Intralesional Kenalog (ILK) Injections

Intralesional Kenalog (ILK) is a steroid injection that involves a corticosteroid such as Triamcinolone Acetonide, which is injected directly into the skin where the hair loss is present and is typically used for those with Alopecia Areata, Lichen Planopilaris, Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia, and Discoid Lupus. ILK is used for controlling inflammation and can slow down the progression. Steroid injections work for hair loss that occurs when the body's own immune system starts fighting hair follicles. They do no work for conditions such as male or female pattern hair loss, Telogen Effluvium, and advanced Traction Alopecia.
